A simple sentence is a sentence with one subject and one verb. When diagramming a simple sentence you put the subject first the draw a vertical line then write your verb.

Diagramming DO- direct objects appear on the baseline to the right of the verb. The verb and the direct object are separated by a vertical line that does not cross the baseline.

Diagramming IO- Indirdiagram11.gifect Objects are placed on a horizontal line parallel to the baseline and are linked to the verb by a slanted line.

Diagramming OC- They are diagrammed the same way as subject complements,but a direct object comes between the verb and the object complement. diagram_objcomp.gif


Diagramming PN- a PN is a noun that is placed after the linking verb.
